Frank Rijkaard will leave from Barcelona

It seems like Frank Rijkaard will resign from Barcelona this summer. The Dutch coach is very affected by the last scandal with Eto’o who refuse to enter the field in the match with Santander.He think that he’s image was affected and also is not happy with the fact that Ten Cate (his assistant) will leave.

There is a strong argument in his decision: he is head coach at Barca since 2003, he won two titles and Champions league but is no longer motivated. After 4 years he must start all over with the team, he must find new players and is convinced that Barca’s best moment was consumed with the Champions League trophy. The possible comings of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo are not considered a solid plus by Rijkaard.

His contract ends in 2009 but there is a stipulation that allow him to leave in any moment. He will use this option in summer when will look for a new challenge and already are voices that place Frank Rijkaard as head coach at Milan.

Also Barcelona is already looking for a new coach. The first choice is Van Basten a dutch coach with the same philosophy as Frank Rijkaard or Cruyff. Other options are Juande Ramos from Sevillia, Schuster from Getafe, Marcello Lippi and Ronald Koeman

If Barcelona’s bosses are willing to wait until 30 march for clarifications but the fans and the players want to continue with the Dutch coach.
