Azzurri coach won’t wilt after opening game defeat
Roberto Donadoni admits he expected heavy media criticism following Italy’s defeat to Holland in their opening game of Euro 2008.
The world champions have seen their European hopes immediately put on the back foot after Monday’s 3-0 defeat to Holland in Berne.
Donadoni, who signed a new contract before the start of the tournament, saw his team’s performance draw a fierce response from the Italian media.
“Honestly I was waiting for that,” said Donadoni.
“I’m not bitter that they went to town on us, but more or less it wasn’t a bed of roses reading them.”
